Best Boutique Hotels in Vietnam (by City)

When it comes to cities rich in culture and history, few in Vietnam can rival Hanoi, Saigon, Hoi An, and Hue. As boutique hotels and the city surrounding them go hand in hand, I’ve based my selection upon these captivating cities where you can enjoy your boutique experience to the fullest. Conveniently located near the main attractions, they offer the perfect blend of comfort and cultural immersion. Without further ado, here are the best boutique hotels in Vietnam by city!

Best Boutique Hotels in Hanoi

1. The Oriental Jade Hotel

Address: 92-94 Hang Trong Street, Hoan Kiem District
From $127
What I like the most: Lake views, Cozy rooms

Speaking of The Oriental Jade Hotel & Spa is speaking of location. Seated just one block from Hoan Kiem Lake, they give you some of the best views in Hanoi from its rooftop. A picture of Hanoi’s development course opens up, with ancient townhouses around the lake and modern high-rise buildings in the distance.

Although I’m not a fan of white walls, the hotel has done an excellent job of adding enough details so that it does not feel monotonous but not too much to the point of being overwhelming. The streets of the Old Quarter are already chaotic, so taking a break in a sleek and clean room is always a good idea. The wall-to-wall carpet also feels so cozy.

2. La Siesta Classic Ma May

Address: 94 Ma May Street, Hoan Kiem District
From $90
What I like the most: Classic interior, Super cool rooftop

La Siesta has several branches in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, but this ‘Classic’ one is my favorite for its sophisticated Indochine architecture. Your eyes will never get bored here, as the hotel is richly decorated at every turn. They also have some of the most interesting furniture, from the pendant lights to the tables. For me, they are easily the most classic among the best boutique hotels in Vietnam.

I’ll be convinced if you say you want to stay here for the rooftop alone, as they probably have one of the coolest ones. You’ll be transported from the elegance and classicism of the interior to a tropical oasis on the rooftop. Spacious and filled with shades of green, it also features a miniature of the Long Bien Bridge, which can make for some fun photos. If you don’t mind not having a pool, this hotel will be a great choice.

3. Soleil Boutique Hotel

Address: 211 Hang Bong, Hoan Kiem District
From $73
What I like the most: Beautiful restaurant, Comfy rooms

Soleil Boutique Hotel occupies a typical Hanoian ‘tube’ house, but you should not overlook it. The modest space becomes their advantage as every detail is attended to, with marble and wall paneling adorning every corner, especially in their restaurant. Savoring a diverse and delightful breakfast buffet in such an exquisite setting is just a perfect way to start the day.

While I find their common area quite impressive, I also love their simple yet comfy rooms. The blue fabric headboard serves as a great highlight for the room. Additionally, they offer rooms with different styles, which are equally charming if blue is not to your liking.

4. Hotel de l'Opera Hanoi - MGallery

Address: 29 Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem District
From $139
What I like the most: Great location, Chic Interior

Here comes the most luxurious boutique hotel in Hanoi, Hotel de l’Opera Hanoi—MGallery. As the name suggests, it is just a few steps from the Hanoi Opera House and lies in the same area as the most beautiful colonial buildings in the Old Quarter. McGallery is known for turning buildings into unique art pieces, and this one is no exception.

You can still feel the hotel’s artistic spirit exuding vividly in your room. Artwork adorning the walls and various colors combined infuse the rooms with a somewhat bizarre but mesmerizing atmosphere. The chicness here is hard to match.

5. Hanoi Tirant Hotel

Address: 36-38-40 Gia Ngu Street, Hoan Kiem District
From $66
What I like the most: Great value, Stylish rooftop

We’re ending the list for Hanoi with a budget-friendly option among the best boutique hotels in Vietnam, Hanoi Tirant Hotel. They are another hotel with amazing views of Hoan Kiem Lake and have the advantage of being pretty high compared to the surrounding buildings. Their design strikes a good balance between modernity and classicism, which you might enjoy if you don’t prefer something too old-schooled.

Their room is probably not of exceptional quality, but it is spacious and comfy and the bathroom is quite nice. What about spending some nighttime chilling and partaking in the top-notch views before heading to bed? The hotel’s stylish rooftop will have that well taken care of.

Best boutique hotels in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

1. Silverland Yen Hotel

Address: 73 – 75 Thu Khoa Huan Street, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1
From $91
What I like the most: Modern interior, Lots of greenery

You can tell the difference in characters between Hanoi and Saigon just by looking at their hotels. Saigon is more modern overall, and Silverland Yen Hotel perfectly exemplifies that. This hotel is truly a green oasis in the heart of Saigon. It is refreshing from the outside to the inside, with lots of greens throughout the property and minimal wooden design.

And this is where your money is worth it: the rooftop. It feels like a mini resort amidst the urban landscape, not to mention the clear view, given you’re in a highly populated city. Their room is clean and simple, but what stands out is it has a few bamboo stalks connecting the floor and the ceiling to add some natural touch.

2. The Myst Dong Khoi

Address: 6-8 Ho Huan Nghiep Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1
From $144
What I like the most: Quirky interior, Best rooftop in Saigon

Let me take you to another oasis in the heart of Saigon here, The Myst Dong Khoi. Their appearance is quite unusual compared to other best boutique hotels in Vietnam, but once you step inside, you will find they are no less impressive. Their lobby has a wooden ceiling drawing inspiration from traditional Vietnamese houses and some antiques on display, and overall it is still very contemporary. All these spontaneous combinations make the atmosphere here particularly chilled.

I have to rank their rooftop as the best among boutique hotels in Saigon. So elegant, so trendy; that’s all I can say. Staying here guarantees you’ll not want to search for any other rooftop. Back indoors, the hotel is just filled with funky stuff. You’ll have a long-tail boat as a buffet counter and a gigantic anchor as a wall decoration, to name a few.

3. Hotel Des Arts Saigon - MGallery

Address: 76-78 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, District 3
From $161
What I like the most: Elegant interior, super cool restaurant

Four years after the opening of Hotel de l’Opera in Hanoi, McGallery made their way to Saigon to give birth to another piece of art called Hotel Des Arts in 2015. As the name suggests, each of its corners features artwork, so you may sometimes think you’re in a gallery here. I’m just partial to classic hotels like this since they allow me to delve into eras when I’d not been born yet.

The originality of their rooms is beyond compare. I just love how all the smooth lines of the window, ceiling, and furniture enhance the classic essence to bring about a magnetic feel. And fascinations follow one another as you step into their super cool restaurant. It’s indeed a stark contrast with the rest of the hotel for the very youthful energy it gives off.

4. Mai House Saigon Hotel

Address: 01 Ngo Thoi Nhiem, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3
From $136
What I like the most: Luxurious interior, Skyline views

Introducing Mai House Saigon Hotel, my favorite among the best boutique hotels in Vietnam for its luxury. The building itself is gorgeous, the interior from the common areas to the room is gorgeous, and it was opened as early as 2019. If you’ve ever daydreamed of living in a white castle, this is where that dream comes true for a few days.

They have an excellent buffet breakfast with a wide range of choices, a decent-sized pool, a well-equipped gym, superb spa treatments, and an upscale rooftop. I particularly enjoy their cocktails, some of the best I’ve had in Saigon. And do expect the service to be outstanding here, with very friendly and attentive staff. You simply cannot ask for more.

5. Villa Song Saigon

Address: 197/2 Nguyen Van Huong Street, District 2
From $133
What I like the most: Peaceful location, Huge pool

Far enough from the chaos but close enough not to lose touch with the city, welcome to Villa Song Saigon. Situated along the banks of the Saigon River in a quiet neighborhood, this hotel is truly a gem of the city. I mean, you can spend the day immersing yourself in the hustle and bustle and end it by unwinding in a secluded haven close to natural beauty.

I love that they are so generous with their pool and trees. And yes, their little speedboat will give you quick access to District 1. There is just nothing I can complain about this hotel, from the location and the service to the facilities. Their rooms are spacious and adorable, and depending on the room type, you can have a balcony. Everything else aside, you’ll find yourself left with the breathtaking views of Saigon’s skyline.

Best boutique hotels in Hoi An

1. Anio Boutique Hotel Hoian

Address: 03 Le Dinh Tham, Hoi An
From $70
What I like the most: Great vibe, Lovely rooms

Anio Boutique Hotel Hoian is a hotel where you can feel classic and playful at the same time. Located less than 2km from the ancient town, it’s convenient yet tranquil enough. A small detail that adds up to their appeal is their offering of free bikes. Biking is the ideal way to explore Hoi An and its surrounding countryside.

What draws me here and possibly you in the first place? The outdoor area! How cool it is with all the trees, the colors, and the vibe! And the pool itself is almost huge for a hotel this size. Speaking of accommodations, they unleash their creativity with several different room styles. Whether you prefer something formally classic and sleek or funky and bold, they have your back.

2. Hoian Central Boutique Hotel & Spa

Address: 91 Hung Vuong Street, Hoi An
From $63
What I like the most: Central location, Unique interior

If any hotel thoroughly captures the essence of Hoi An, it has to be Hoian Central Boutique Hotel & Spa. From the outside to the inside, the design is well to the point, and every detail is a feast for the eyes. Even if you’re not staying in this hotel, you may want to spend some coffee time here to enjoy its unique charm and ambiance.

Their room is not too fancy compared to some other best boutique hotels in Vietnam, but I just love almost everything about it, from the colorful silky headboard to the vintage floor tiles. You’ll miss this room just as you’ll miss Hoi An. And a great hotel like this wouldn’t be complete without a great pool for a tropical city.

3. La Siesta Hoi An Resort & Spa

Address: 132 Hung Vuong Thanh Ha, Hoi An
From $119
What I like the most: Beautiful setting, Huge pools

You won’t need to go far for a resort; La Siesta Hoi An Resort & Spa is just a 10-minute walk from the ancient town. And being adjacent to expansive rice fields makes the overall scenery and atmosphere here even better. This place is indeed spacious, given its central location, with the biggest saltwater pool in all of Hoi An and 3 other pools. The definitions of timelessness, modern comfort, and natural harmony all lie right here.

You know you’re in for a treat when both the setting and accommodation are excellent. Follow the paved pathway lined with lush greenery and be ready for your stunning room. This is where you’ll want to lay your head after a hearty day of exploring Hoi An.

4. Little Riverside Hoi An

Address: 09 Duong Phan Boi Chau Cam Chau, Hoi An
From $138
What I like the most: Rooftop pool, Spectacular views

The Thu Bon River gracefully winds through the town, and on its banks, you’ll find no less / equally graceful a boutique hotel called Little River Hoi An. A poetic picture of Hoi An appears before your eyes, with a harmony between humans and nature. Seeing Hoi An from here, I fell in love with it even more. They undoubtedly have my favorite views among the best boutique hotels in Vietnam.

And this beautiful room just adds to the already idyllic setting of the hotel. You will most likely find your home right here, with its warmth and peaceful scenery right at your doorstep. Besides the splendid location and facilities, this is where you’ll feel the signature hospitality and friendliness of Central Vietnam.

5. Allegro Hoi An

Address: Block 2 – 86 Tran Hung Dao, Hoi An
From $130
What I like the most: Charming property, Relaxing atmosphere

Modestly blending into the surrounding townscape, Allegro Hoi An itself just complements the timeless charm of Hoi An. The magic of Hoi An lies in the fact that each hotel you come across has its own unique style, and this hotel is a highlight of preserving the classic spirit while incorporating contemporary features.

There is a notable sense of calmness that permeates from the lobby to the room to the pool area. Besides the vibrancy of the central old town, I would say this hotel represents another side of Hoi An: a haven from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Immerse yourself in the cool water, sip a cup of coffee on the balcony, and curl up in this lovely room; peace is not hard to find.

Best boutique hotels in Hue

1. Pilgrimage Village Boutique Resort & Spa

Address: 130 Minh Mang Road, Hue
From $96
What I like the most: Natural setting. Traditional architecture

Pilgrimage Village Boutique Resort & Spa is situated a little on the outskirts of Hue, but I’m sure you won’t mind a 15-minute drive to stay here. True to its name, this resort feels no different / warmly similar to a traditional Vietnamese village and is perhaps the most Vietnamese among the best boutique hotels in Vietnam. Nestled beneath the cool shade of lush trees, the baked brick houses with wooden ceilings will transport you to a nostalgic fairytale realm.

The resort ensures you’ll be able to capture the soul of the city that was once the imperial capital of Vietnam and, at the same time, enjoy the fresh air and secluded privacy. Sparing yourself some opportunity to stay in a rustic house like this when coming to Vietnam will be a unique cultural experience, and things get even better as you’ve found one right in Hue.

2. aNhill Boutique

Address: Khai Dinh An Tay Ward, Hue
From $118
What I like the most: Hip interior, Romantic rooms

Do you know what Vietnamese people call Hue? The Dreamy City! And aNhill Boutique deserves the title ‘The Dreamy Resort in the Dreamy City’. The resort breathes a contemporary breeze into this historical city while still embodying the qualities that have defined it. Gentle like a Vietnamese girl in Ao Dai, dotted with curated royal details, you’ve had another reason to come to Hue.

Open the door to the resort’s room and let the definition of romance take shape! First impression: the room is massive. This is just their standard suite, yet it is already this big. There is a blend of Western free-spiritedness and Eastern rustic charm right here. Even the balcony is so unique in its own right. And just outside, the lush garden and pine hill await to soothe your eyes.

3. Eldora Hotel

Address: 60 Ben Nghe Street, Hue
From $47
What I like the most: Central location. Great value.

Now is the turn for boutique hotels in the city center. For around 50$ a night, Eldora is the best place to go in Hue, both in quality and location. We know what to expect from the name Eldora, and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s luxurious enough to evoke a sense of Hue’s royal and French past, yet not too much as to hurt our wallets – another budget-friendly option among the best boutique hotels in Vietnam.

The fact that you’ll get a room this well-appointed with such a budget just shows how affordable Hue is. All the wall panelings add elegance to it, and if you look closely, you will see that each piece of furniture is pretty ornate. After all, what you’ll seek the most from Eldora is a clean, comfortable room with expansive city-center views.

4. Azerai La Residence

Address: 5 Le Loi Vinh Ninh Ward, Hue
From $144
What I like the most: Riverfront location, Historic atmosphere

The Perfume River that flows through Hue has been an immense source of inspiration for generations of Vietnamese poets, and you’ll understand why right within luxury at Azerai La Residence. This resort beckons for its prime location and the timeless French colonial building built in the 1930s at its heart.

If poets express the allure of the Perfume River through words, Azerai expresses it through architecture. They have several types of accommodation, but I particularly love this Colonial Suite for its historical atmosphere and, probably, for the panoramic views of the river. And speaking of the outdoors, its 40-meter-long (131-foot) pool and expansive gardens just elevate your stay to a whole new level.

5. Ancient Hue Garden Houses

Address: 104/47 Kim Long Kim Long Ward, Hue
From $178
What I like the most: Historic atmosphere, Beautiful landscaping

Save the best for last! Back in the days of the Nguyen Dynasty, ancient Hue Garden Houses used to be homes to the nobility class, and now, the heritage continues in a new role. A dive into Hue’s fascinating history awaits you at five Garden Ruong Houses and four French Colonial Villas, all well-preserved to ensure an authentic experience.

It is so fortunate we still have a hotel like this to admire such magnificent Mandarin architecture of a bygone era from the comfort of our beds.
